Curriculum Overview

Fukuoka International School (FIS) follows the International Baccalaureate (IB) curriculum, adopting the PYP (Primary Years Program), MYP (Middle Years Program), and DP (Diploma Program), with a strong emphasis on inquiry-based learning.


Early Years (Ages 3-5)

The Early Years program at FIS utilizes the PYP framework, integrating social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development while fostering play, discovery, and exploration.Students learn under the guidance of an international teacher and a full-time teaching assistant, with additional classes in physical education, music, and art conducted by specialist teachers each week.


Elementary School (Grades 1-5)

The Primary Years Program (PYP) in elementary school emphasizes inquiry-based learning, encouraging students to become active, engaged thinkers while making real-world connections.
